Lectures and demonstrations are held in conjunction with our public performances throughout the school year. Students are able to attend these educational programs in the theater during the school day for a nominal fee. The fee covers the cost of the lecture or demonstration. Ballet Spartanburg partners with many local organizations and school districts to provide the highest quality of dance appreciation and instruction. Ballet Spartanburg is listed on the South Carolina Artists in Residence list to provide short or long-term dance instruction.
Study guides are available to teachers who reserve seating for their students. Written by a certified dance specialist, the study guides provide historical information about dance, a synopsis of the ballet to be seen, and grade level-appropriate activities that connect to the regular classroom curriculum and to The South Carolina Curriculum Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts. Also, dance specialists are available to the public schools for residencies.
If you or your organization seeks to encorporate dance education into your school or organizatoin, contact Susan Woodham, our Outreach Coordinator.
